The Portmore United church choir was formed under the musical guidance of Mrs. G. Hylton twenty -five years ago.
She left us to reside in St. Andrew with her family, Mrs. Swaby, an outstanding organist from independece city led the choir.
Under her tenure Portmore United made its first appearance on the Jamaica Brodcasting Corporation TV when the former minister Rev. Gordon Evans preached his first sermon on the air.
After some time Mrs. Swaby migrated to the United States, then returned for a short time.

Mr. Donovan Grant from Mandeville helped us for some months then left for ministry at the United Theological College. Miss G. Gregory stayed at Portmore United for a short stinth until the chior acquired Mr. Trevor Brown who totally transformed the choir into a dynamic unit for praise.

Mr. Brown eventually moved on and Mr. Ainsworth Rose, an associate of Mr. Brown continued the work. He then left and Sister Gregory, a member of the choir, became the organist.
She led the choir until she left to be with her husband overseas.

Mrs. Christie and Mrs. Sharon Purcelle from Edgewater and Independence City respectively assisted with the choir but both migrate. The choir saw the emergence of daron fraser and Florence Tomlinson as leaders within the choir assisting with music for all arms of the church.

Mrs. Doreen Gregory returned and continued her work within the Portmorte United Church, providing service in the area of music with assistance from Mr. Goodman the current Director of the Senior Choir.

Many members have passed by, passed through or passed on. Because of this the choir is always recruiting.
