HEALTH CARE:

The Committee saw the need for health care, so in February 1985 the clinic became a reality.

It does not only serve the need of our members but serves the need of the general community. Our medical personnel over the years are Dr. Gloria Ford who served for over ten (10) years.

Drs. Allison Martin-Barker and Natalie McNeil-Beecher two (2) young persons who were nur- tured in the Portmore congregation. They served for six years combined. Dr. Edmund Reid, a member of St. Stephens congregation, is now serving us.
We have had Annual Health Fairs and Dental Outreach Days. Nurses, Pharmacist, Dental, Nurses and assistants from our church community have been giving valuable services in this ministry

 SENIOR CITIZENS CLuB:

It was recognized that many of the senior citizens who attended the clinic lived alone. As a result of this observation the Hibiscus Senior Citizens Club was formed in November 1985. Since the club started we have seen friendships develop through our bi-monthly meetings. Members have participated in the Annual Craft Competition, sponsored by the National Council for Senior

Citizens, and have been awarded several prizes. The club members have been visiting the Bridgeport Infant School and are "Teachers" for two (2) hours. Other activities are annual retreats which take the members to places of interest all over the island. Some senior citizens even had the opportunity to travel by the plane for the first time.

Computer School

The committee recognized the great demand for persons to be trained in Information Technology. As a consequence thereof, a proposal was made to the Congregational Board for the commence- ment of a Computer School. The School was opened in August 2002. There are twice weekly classes and a summer programme for children. During this year 2002 we plan to launch our Dental Clinic and Home Work centre.
