Rev. Bacchas became the second minister of the Portmore United CHurch in 1988-1996. Under his guidance and through the working of the Spirit, he sought to get members involved in the prayer meeting and worship services, and gave new life to the existing cell groups.

He was zealous for soul-winning in so much that he was very involved in the Evangelism Committee and after preaching on a Sunday morning he often had alter calls. Rev.

Bacchas placed a lot of empasis on liturgical renewal so that the worship services could be meaningful. he re-introduced the Adult Sunday School which was held before the morning services.

He encouraged the members to tithe and took visitation of the sick and pastoral care seriously. Rev. Bacchas gave much support to the ministry of Hellshire United Church at its inception. He served as chairman of the Portmore Ministers' Fraternal for three years.
